Have been a bit busy, not sure if I have a lot to add yet but that Rita Ora track is actually written by Rita, Ali Tamposi, Brian Lee, watt & Jonny Coffer. It's probably safe to assume Charli & RAYE added parts of course but it's not 'an actual Charli / RAYE' song'.

Ahh that's awesome thanks, can't wait to hear more from them Smile Doesn't look like much is out this week anyway, we've not done bad past few weeks though Smile Hoping we get more Max than Jack on Taylor and something more edgy like Ready For It the last two promos have been back to old soppy TS which she really shouldn't play on as she's already a basic white bitch...

I've started to add upcoming album collabos too just for reference obviously we can put them elsewhere but some of these I can't be bothered doing full posts for as we will never hear most of them anyway Sad

Ahh damn was hoping for more Max than Antonoff [I do like Jack's productions and he's sexy too] was also hoping for more than just Shellback. Even Payami was edgy on Ready 4 It so even he could have added something to a couple Sad But yeah Oscar Holter and OzGo am always excited for their stuff now Smile Wish she had some co writers too, her writing is SO basic I'm hoping Max/Jack help her out a lot more this time...

Spoiled brat. There are plenty of Max tracks on there. Would've liked to see some more of his producers on there. And Julia like I said, maybe even with Mattman & Robin. Her working with StarGate sometime wouldn't hurt.

It's leaked now, guess I'll listen to it later. I'm just so addicted to James at the moment and there's so much...and I want all his songs. There must've been dozens leaked over the years [like 'final' songs, by other artists] that I didn't get.

haha I know but I don't tend to like him jsut with Shellback those other producers just bring something epic out in his stuff. That Bon Appetit beat I STILL get goosebumps from, even the Migos feature is PERFECTLY incorporated and I detest them.

Yeah I'll listen on way to work tomorrow [illegally of course as the bitch is cleverly not allowing it on streaming until 3 weeks into sales]

He's very hit and miss for me but the stuff where he does hit makes him one of my favourite writers still because the quality is so good, there's a lot of writers like that I guess its what they're asked to do as well and much moreso what actuall makes it onto albums and the net not totally their fault.

Well I'm not crazy about all his tracks either but he's a fucking genius. And his influence on the music scene has been massive, especially if you consider how many people are influenced by Frank Ocean and there's no way Frank Ocean would write the way he does if it wasn't for James.

He was one of the biggest victims of the era of leaks too, there's about 250 demos alone, and then tons of tracks by other artists of course. Same for Claude, they roughly tie. I remember them tweeting back & forth about it, Claude saying something along the lines of it being like there's a party and you're baking a cake and then someone takes it halfway through and shows it around the party, saying "Look everybody, Claude made a cake!". I mean, I'm very happy with all those tracks we got during that time but I totally get it, I would hate it too if it was me.

They're obviously putting their own stuff out now, James for free even, and probably could care less at this point but it's good to see that they both have good levels of mainstream success as well [James writing entire Justin & Bruno Mars albums who are easily some of the biggest artists of our time and Claude, although he's been more 'relevant', being Olly Murs' go to writer and always working on Syco projects etc].

Oh yeah definitely a lot of those will be rough AF, I'm so glad we get to hear them though and I can always tell even just from one initial mindblowing track if a writer is going to become one of my faves and those two definitely are. Same with placements sometimes labels place the shittest tracks and we can't believe they've not used some of the demos avaiable its crazy and must be weird for the writers themselvbes too as they're never getting a full picture of themselves out there unless they get to be an album mentor [like LaShawn/Candice on Brandy for example] where they can really let go.

Yeah James is definitely influential, I could hear the change in both Dawn and Kalenna's writing straight away for example, after he worked with Dirty Money. I love it when artists absorb from each other like that, its like when Brandy was united with LaShawn its magical to hear them take it to the next level and then continue with it even after they've stopped working together.

I'm not keen on their solo projects as I'm not a amssive fan of male artists and I'm not keen on either voice but as always with my favourite writers I LOVE their work with females so they've got me on that one.

Yeah well look at the majority of James' earliest major releases, a lot of them were very poppy considering his sound & style. He can do great at superpoppy too but a lot of those early tracks don't represent him AT ALL. Like those Clique Girlz tracks haha.

Oh yeah Dawn post-Dirty Money is on a whole new level, all those demos that leaked were alright but not too special...it's hard to believe James didn't write tracks like December Sky or Black Lipstick. Love her last album, it's amazing. Mostly because of Machinedrum production-wise, but I saw that Daya's album was produced mainly by Noisecastle III so I decided to check that out last week, you were right, it really isn't very exciting. And I don't like the sound of her voice on higher notes at all, and there were quite a few shouty high notes there.

We need so much more James & Brandy, there's 3 actually released tracks I think INCLUDING Long Distance which is just ridiculous considering how many songs he must've written for her. Claude is also a massive Brandy fan, but he only managed to write 2 tracks for Human [since True was originally written for Michael Jackson] so he was very intent on working with her again after Human. Obviously we've had tracks by them together since but I reckon there's probably a lot more than just what we know of. He must've at least written something for her with Chuck Harmony.

Yeah and Kalenna's mixtape too, they both TOTALLY changed and you could totally hear it was James' influence, they both went on another level after originally having a lot of promise [Lights out written by Dawn for DK is epic] they went onto the next level after James. I don't think it is just the producer, as I preferred her stuff with Drew Scotty, its her writing and her vocal arrangements too, as I was saying with sucessors [NeYo> MJ etc] Dawn is my new Brandy for this era. [wish she would write for her/manage her, same with Jhene Aiko>Cassie]

I know but to be fair HOME and Drum Life were everything I need from them, I was totally blown away and scalped. I imagine if I heard all of their unreleased tracks together and could only keep two, they would still be my choices. Stand Back was gorgeous too, Torn Down not so much I guess cos it wasn't for her completely, same with List.

Well Home obviously wasn't written for Brandy either. Even with the whole positive vibe of Human there were better MIDI Mafia tracks than Torn Down [& Casualties] she could've used IMO [presumably] like In The Ground or even The Way You Are. They were hardly depressing. I'd still much rather have seen darker moodier songs like That's All They Ever Talk About, Repeat or even Stuck In The Mirror.

No that's true but it worked so well from a male perspective/demo, I LOVED that cocky male attitude by Brandy it sounded so good a girl, especially sweetheart Brandy saying let me take you home and give you a home for the night, it was so sexual and badass. and Drum Life speaks for itself the whole concept is epic. Casulaties was my third favourite as well, would habve chosen that over Torn Down by far.

But yeah darker songs always for me too, Porcelain Doll was my favourite from the Human sessions overall and that was deep dark Brandy.

Honestly Torn Down has some good lyrics, but it's just such a cheesy goody little two shoes song altogether. I definitely rate After The Flood & Who's The Loser Now [& Believer but that wasn't her song] way above that & Casualties though. Maybe even Keyed, that one is just very different from the other James tracks though.

Mine are Drum Life & Porcelain Doll I guess, can't really compare them. The Frank Ocean tracks too though, especially the ones that didn't make the cut but the album tracks are up there on the album as a whole too. I tend to forget about it a little but Shattered Heart is pretty good too, the darkest track on the album.

Oh yeah After The Flood definitely my third, I always think of that as jsut LaShawn but its definitley a very James song.

I thought the Timbaland ones were done after for a possible new project or failing a re release? If that's our rules then obviously Home then Drum Life are my top 2 then Porcelain haha

I wasn't keen on the Frank ones at all unfortunately, Parachute is my favourite I thought it was the James/Hllary Lindsey/BK one for ages so I was glad I actually liked one of the Frank ones when you told me as I love the idea of Brandy and him together.

Yeah Shattered Heart was great, that's when I started to like Cristyle I think, she's another one who's VERY hit and miss but I'm definitely a fan now she's had a few decent placements to rate her on. Unfortuantely the Darkchild tracks were saved by the writers, the production was pretty basic on every one, I just wish we could get a FULL Darkchild album since then to hear if he still has got it...

Yeah definitely mostly James on the verses at least...

The Tim tracks were for the normal release of Human but they were too late recording them. They went in last minute so they just weren't done in time to possibly make the cut, especially considering how they reworked Drum Life.

Really, the Frank tracks shit all over at least half the album...like Warm It Up or the Toby Gad tracks ugh. None of the DarkChild tracks were amazing production-wise but he's done much, much worse. He did about half the album, not sure if I want another Brandy album with more DarkChild on it than that.

Ahh I see I thought they were planning a re-release or something.. Such a waste that none of those tracks were even placed and that they couldn't just throw out an album on MMG or something especially since she was in between labels soon after. Also the fact we got all those 'Bran Nu' tracks with Tim they could have done a mixtape at least Sad

Can't complain that we got Drum Life and HOME though as they more than made up for the long wait her reuniting with Tim especially after her already reuniting with Darkchild. Would have loved to see if they did anymore with Jim Beanz and people too though [she must have been in the studio with Jim/Tim at least once as they did Symphony together..

Well that's what I'm saying, it seems like we have to have at least 13 Darkchild tracks to pick 5 that are 'mindblowing', we haven't had that chance for a long time. Its the same with writers as we were saying we usually only get to hear what's placed by labels so its hard to define who are the best writers without a lot of material. [obviously you have some like Ester who deliver nearly every time]

Also, I loved the Toby Gad tracks just because they were totally different for her and it showed she can even pull off those really poppy tracks too, clearly she can do any material with that amazing voice. It also fit in with the style she was going with the BK and Mafia tracks, sort of like guitar based pop R&B [Marie Digby did it best though that album is iconic]

Hoping Toni delivers the same quality of this sound for her album.

Yeah but I don't actually see Home or Drum Life on Human as we know it though, Who's The Loser Now would've been more likely sound wise. I would've liked to see an album that would've been suitable for Home & Drum Life obviously but no use cying over wasted tracks...there are TONS.

I dunno I think DarkChild has been more relevant for pop artists and not so much R&B ones in the past 10 years or so, looking at the actual released tracks. And then the R&B tracks that do get released are on more soulful albums like Mary J Blige & Tamar Braxton when his strength was always a sort of pop-influenced R&B. It's like we're only getting the worst of both worlds now. Not that those soul tracks are so horrible, they're just not his strong suit and there are other people much better at that.

Well collabo-wise Toni seems to really be going for a spohisticated soul & country vibe...releasing a remix EP like that seems a bit fishy though, so I hope it'll see the light of day.

OMG so weird I’ve just listened to the STAR Ester
/ DC track and it’s really good. He’s used the same sound FX as the Kelly tracks he did and the Kalenna one both of which I loved. Same with the Jacko Xecape remix I loved.

They totally channel Ester they’ve got those weak voices that channel the writers which is awesome. Unfortunately the other ones he did for this are all Motown soul influenced ones they’re not bad thkugh. This has confirmed he’s definitely working with A Plus again too

"The' Kalenna one? We've got tons of Kalenna/DarkChild tracks. Quite a few of which are amongst his better tracks the last years.

Only listened to the Ester track, not either's best but it's pretty good...

So I'm guessing Luke James acts in it as well?

I only got Party and Bullshit off her mixtape can you up some? I saw loads registered on BMI when he registered loads with writers (must have been doing a  writing camp) and really wanted to hear them the titles were awesome too. That’s definitely the sound he needs to go with if any. Yeah it’s not amazing but it gives me some hope and it sounds like Ester so it’s fine by me. The Makeba one is my favourite (and yes they sound like her too)

Yeah I think he does never watched it I love the concept but I hate that BET bad acting and writing. They’re all gorgeous though and I love  the concept of releasing an album of the girL group every season. Surprised they don’t let Jude write considering she wrote Work FH and she’s married to AMMO she’s only written one up to now Sad

Yeah I'll up her shit some time.

I know what you mean, all those DarkChild tracks with Kalenna, Livvi, Priscilla, Cri$tyle, Tytewriter etc but there were tons, including songs that were leaked or released ages before that so I figure he just registered the tracks he did with his main writers at the time or something like that. I mean there were dozens, like over 10 per writer, only women IIRC and songs there that came out over the course of a couple of years for lots of different artists with very different sounds etc.

Yeah heard the Makeba one as well. Nice enough but wasn't blown away. I'm mostly a fan of her emo ballads & midtempos anyway, they're 'pretty Brandy' usually, pretty much all of the slower StarGate tracks for instance sound like Brandy would kill them. It's kinda corny but Fool In My Heart is one of my favorite tracks by her.

I suppose this was somewhat midtempo but also kinda ghetto, I know she's good at that ghetto sound as well but I don't care that much for those tracks in general unless you're Ester Dean or something. I guess it's cause Makeba's voice is so smooth & relatively soft usually, and Ester's sound can really carry those bare ass ghetto beats in a way that I actually like.

BET always made me cringe anyway, it's so...pretentious yet campy ghetto or something, at least at the time I'd watch it.
