Oh righ their writers and producers weren't exclusive but their artists mostly worked exclusively with Bad Boy composers. I guess that changed a bit around the same time their new wave of writers [like Makeba and Angela Hunte etc] came in the picture?

Well The RN roster hasn't really improved over the years I'd say, sure there have been good additions but a lot of good people have left, without hardly ever having any actual placements like you said.

Well vocally Friends sounds like Purpose but beat-wise it doesn't. It's a lot more like some of his older solo stuff, more electropop, less melodic and urban. It's very simple but a great track. I still can't believe Justin fucking Bieber not only blew up the way he did but he actually has a lot of great stuff out. I laughed my ass off when I heard his first singles and saw the videos etc, thinking no way will he ever get big.

His first album already had great collabos but awful tracks. I even hated the Clutch track [the original too] and the Frank Ocean one that made the cut was so much worse than the ones that didn't.

That's exactly it although they still had some regular writers/producers like Mario Winans and Shannon Lawrence.

I'm not surprised they left they never got them any placements and the artists never get released. Its such a good concept but if they would have just kept the production/writing in house the costs would be low and they could release as many albums as possible even if it was just digital.

I really like it too. I feel sorry for him because literally everyone has been ripping off his sound its all over the radio its just like what happened to Darkchild, Timbaland, StarGate etc

He always has the best collabos like Beyonce that's the most annoying thing about it. Glad we got to hear the demos of those tracks at least they're actually listenable. I'm just glad his voice broke so he sounds acceptable now. I bet Usher hates that he's ditched him and is more rich and successful than he ever was.

Also I don't think Cathy Dennis has anything to do with Love On Me, I haven't seen it registered with her credited anywhere, just on wiki and stuff.

Ross Golan isn't on the other track, that's the one featuring Matthew Koma, it was released months ago.

It says it's Ross on wiki but I don't know what that's based on. I just listened again real quick and the vocals on it weren't as bad as I thought initially so it's probably not J Kash [being a rapper I assume he can't sing for shit], just realised it could be Ricky Reed...he did pretty good on that random ass James / Charli XCX / Wayne Hector track compared to the shouty Wallpaper stuff.

You wouldn't suspect it from his Jewish ass, especially if you hear his speaking voice but Ross' voice is a lot deeper and heavier and rougher than you'd think. You can hear a tiny bit of him singing Dangerous Woman [and uhm Flo Rida's My House...] here in the second half. First there's MoZella singing Wrecking Ball & One Call Away. Cool vids there but frustrating that they're so short, I love it when writers perform their own songs. Like that ASCAP thing with StarGate & Sia, wish there was a full video or even just audio of that...

Well not super deep but kind of rough around the edges, it's got a lot more power to it than you'd think from hearing him talk. I figure they have to pay if they want to play the full songs, it looks like this is just some bar or relatively small venue that had this [fucking awesome] concept. Writers don't own their own songs for the most part, the songs would be years old at the point that they could use them, they'd still have to get permission from the other writers etc. I'd love nothing more than being able to just download old demos and stuff but I wonder how many other people would.

Yeah I guess its a lot more complicated with placed big songs like these.. But even if one person bought a demo album it would earn them more than it does all over youtube, that's what I don't understand. Some of Ester's and Makeba's in particular are well worth being on a demo album at least if no one's going to place them.. [unlikely, as they always just write new ones; the last old old demos I saw placed were on the STAR TV series soundtrack: they placed Heartbreak by Megan Rochell and Break Yo Chest by Nicole]

Y'know lots of writers don't even have a ton of their own demos, they tend to stay with the producers. Sure they have a bunch of their own tracks but if a writer actally wanted to do that with song that are years old they'd probably have to do a lot of digging. And I wonder how well organized some producers are as far as that goes. They're not all scandinavian...

I actually have no idea what STAR is, I did see that they cut a Makeba track right? Megan Rochell actually released her album somehow, I was all excited until I saw that it was just all the tracks that we already had 10 years ago ugh

don't get me excited if you look like him you're in hahaha Its so funny still hearing male-female demos the best ones yet are Chris Brown 'Captive' and Ne-Yo 'Discipline' It always makes me laugh looking at Jermaine Dupri how many sexy female tracks he wrote in the 90s hahaha

Yeah they're not even bothered half of them I love how blase they are about them. Karen Poole is nice enough to inbox me on twitter all the time and when I send her questions about her demo registrations she literally can't remember writing half of them. I'd love to get to that stage where your catalogue was 1000s deep.

STAR is the soundtrack to the TV Show on FOX. You need to listen to the first season soundtrack its SO good. Check out the credits right at the bottom of the forum main page they got everyone on it! And those two tracks I never thought would het placed were the icing on the cake along with the Ariana album track [she so should have used it and I love how her writing and arangements are all over it]

The lead girl is Jude Demorest [she's married to AMMO and wrote Work from Home and DOWN] they've all got really good voices though and I LOVE the concept.

No I sent her the titles for the B&A songs and she doesn't even remember if they were for anyone or if they were just having a writing camp. She's so lovely though, a true underrated icon in British music, same with Cathy Dennis.

That Megan album upload was hilarious BTW it makes me wonder who can just upload like that as I;m sure Def Jam and the writers must retain all rights even with it unreleased? Heartbreak being placed being a perfect example. Plus she used an awful candid picture of herself instead of the official cover, her makeip and hair are fucked up its so random.

I love that album, I wish we got some more of the tracks after with Darkchild and Maddscientist we literally got nothing..

Surly she doesn't own the rights to the songs, at least Betcha has been recorded years after? She definitely had a bunch of tracks out shortly after her 1st deal though, not sure if any of them were Maddscientist. Don't think we ever got any post-Radio DarkChild.

Well you know the average pop writer probably writes at least 100 tracks a year, there are some Circus era tracks but most of her B&A collabos are like early-mid 00s. Lots of writers seem to forget about tracks of theirs, even very major collabos.

I think there are a few Maddscientist era tracks but not a ton and a bunch of tracks that leaked that aren't really clear, I don't think we ever got any DarkChild ones.

Yeah Natasha Bradley with her J Lo sounding ass...I'm guessing that Frankie track was from another deal or something though? She also did that Arama/Bale'wa/StarGate track Blackberry.
